Happy Holidays?

That phrase....Happy Holidays....what a joke...why must I be judged if I say Merry Christmas? Just because I say Merry Christmas during this time of year....does not mean I look down or judge those who do not celebrate religiously as I do....This is a time of year when we should be able to celebrate how we want to...If I say Merry Christmas to you...and you do not celebrate Christmas...then feel free to respond to me by saying Happy Holidays...I will not look down at you...I Promise....so with that in mind....I am continuing to celebrate the Christmas Season and hope you all had a wonderful and safe "Holiday"....be back on here real soon with A LOT of new things on which to VENT/ TALK about....enjoy the new year in a safe/responsible way.....

KDWB JINGLE BALL 2008.....

So, just a few notes from my me about last night's KDWB Jingle Ball at the Xcel Energy Center...

1. What the hell has happened to parents in today's society...I mean honest to God! Do you even look at your kids before they leave the house...maybe I am completely off base with how the younger generation dresses these days but come on...MOM AND DAD!! Really!!? Did any of you bother to explain to your kids that in Minnesota in December it is COLD...by the looks of things last night you would think I would be able to go play golf today and it would be 80-degrees....

2. Apparently the more things change the more they stay the same...seeing it was 75 below last night and I had had a few glasses of water at dinner...I had to use the bathroom a few times...while in the bathroom I saw several boys, that I can only assume are under 21 due to their school jackets that do not even have this year as their graduation date, consuming beer...Now first of all kudos to however you got those in past security as I was seemingly violated by those same people at the entrance...Second of all...is it still that easy to obtain this beer for you and your friends to enjoy...I guess so..

3. By the simple fact that this fragment starts with the number 3, I will begin by saying THIRDLY...I have never had the urge to meet someone more so than the person that started the trend to scream at the top of your lungs at a concert...WHY? What did I ever do to piss you off enough that you would release the shrieks of the Mythical Greek God Medusa on me...Honestly is it necessary to scream in a deafening pitch at all times? You owe me the cost of any future hearing damage I might have because of your actions...

4. Lastly, the musical acts...Rhee-Rhee (sp?) as the kids were calling her last night rocked...WOW is she good looking in person and man can she sing...Something called Lady GaGa on the other hand may as well have been Lady Gag-Gag...I was not expecting the White Witch from Narnia to be preforming last night...scepter and all...did I miss Aslan? (Again for all you nerds I apologize if I did not spell that right). She needs to do us all a favor and never perform again...I am all about having as much opportunity to make a living in this country but what she is doing is almost criminal...PLUS, Kayne made wearing messed up sunglasses cool last summer!

Marian Gaborik Situation....

As we sit here on August 18th, NHL training camp for my favorite hockey team begins in less than a month. This time of year usually begins my transition from enjoying golf and being outdoors to wanting to be indoors and watching hockey. In years past, these next few weeks are an exciting time and filled with anticipation. However, this year, my favorite team...the Minnesota Wild...are filled with a massive decision to make on a player that will ultimately decide on what type of season it will be in downtown St. Paul. Marian Gaborik, the first player ever drafted by the Wild and all time leading scorer, enters the final year of his contract that will pay him a lofty 7.5 million dollars. I will repeat that so you know it is not a typo- Marian Gaborik will make 7.5 million dollars this year.

That kind of contract puts him as the 11th highest player in the NHL. First of all, there is no logical reason to pay him that much money. "Gabby" gets hurt way to much and misses way to many games to get that kind of coin paid to him, mind you that there is now a salary cap in the NHL. Also, does he produce enough to get paid that much money? Is he worth that kind of contract? Can you name 11 better players to justify his money? Lets see...Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Heatley, Lidstrom, Thornton, Spezza, Lecavalier, Iginla, Pheneuf, Kovalchuk and for good measure...Kiprusoff. That is just a short list of players I would take over Gaborik. Some are paid more than him, others a little less. The point is that Marian is asking and the Wild are willing to pay him a contract that will average 8.5 million dollars a year for 4-7 years. That would vault him from the 11th highest paid player, roughly, into the top 5. To date, the only players signed that would make more would be Ovechkin, Crosby, Lecavalier and I believe Malkin will be there next year.

I would obviously take any of those players over Marian on my team anyday, to quote coach Lemaire, "there is no doubt." Off the top of my head, I could name probably at least 15-20 more players that I would rather have on this team than Gaborik, for less that that type of money. He is a great player but in an era where there is a slary cap, you would be border line clinacaly insane to sign him with that type of money. The fans need to realize that the main goal of professional sports is to put a competitve team on the playing surface and win championships. Ask yourself if keeping Gabby around for that type of money would help acomplish both of those goals? Maybe a competitive team a few of those years but would it bring Lord Stanley to Minnesota? No, it would not.

Marian is creeping up on his prime and might even be starting it right now. What signs of consistantly staying healthy has he shown? What signs of being the go-to-guy and carry a team offensively BY HIMSELF has he shown? Remember, he has had Demitra feeding him and now Pavol is gone. By contrast, Crosby and Ovechkin can create their own chances and convert. The salary cap is a little less that 60 million dollars so is he worth tying up almost 9 of it in this player, the answer is NO. I know fans will be upset and see this as another Minnesota team not wanting to keep one of their stars but there are options we can explore together. Yes, you will have to get your kids a new jersey t-shirt or re-number your Wild jersey but I promise we will be better off! How? Here is how.

We trade him. Plain and simple. Get a lot of value for him now..instead of a little or nothing later. Plus, no distractions for the team in training camp or during the season. Who would want him, here is an idea.

There is a team in the Eastern Confrence, where Gabby said he would love to play during last year's All-Star game, that would love a young star on the rise. They play in a market where to the south, there is Ovechkin and to the east, Crosby. Their main star from last year is not there and they play in a market that needs a star to draw intrest. That team, is the New York Rangers. Gone is Jagr, who else do they have? Drury or Gomez, don't think so. However, they have young talent. Young talent though, does not get it done in New York City. Plus, the Rangers saw first hand last year the skills Gaborik has when he scored 5 goals in a game against them. Having the speed of Gaborik would help draw on the east coast and put them on the market that has Crosby and Ovechkin in it. I would trade him there for players like Brandon Dubinsky (22 years old, Center), Ryan Callahan (23 years old, right wing), Marc Staal (21 years old, defenseman) and draft picks. There is no guarantee all these players or draft picks could be had for Gabby, but why not toss in Skoula and just get young right now and develop this team?

Just a random though/rant...in conclusion, there is no reason to pay Gabby that much money when he just seams not to deserve it, in my point of view. I would rather trade him for young good talent and build a foundation to compete with a young team. Does it work? Ask the teams in Phoenix, Edmonton, Chicago and Philly. All these teams have lots of young stars and are better than the Wild with Gaborik on our team.

Watching the Bob Saget Roast

So I am watching the Roast of Bob Saget tonight, not that I am all interested in watching washed up comics rip on Saget, I want to see how many Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson references there will be tonight...I have the over under at 11.5...

Stamos gives the first Olson twins reference 6 mins in....10 to go

10 mins into the show and the most excited I have been so far is that Norm McDonald is there

Greg Giraldo up first and another Olson twins reference, 9 more, also a Ledger reference...too soon, I think he would kick the shit out of this clown trying to be funny....Honestly, don't these comics get it...they are not funny...the only gigs they get are when Comedy Central has a Roast...hang it up man....

Is Lewis Black here at all? Or Jodie Sweetin, aka Stephanie Tanner...I wonder if she is sitting in the crowd tonight thinking, "How Rude!"

Up next in this "laugh-fest," Jon Lovitz, here we go.....I wonder how many times he can make me laugh...I have it at maybe 1/2, he is going to sing now, Lovitz that is, time to see if gymnastics is on NBC or MSNBC or CNBC or Animal Planet....all on commercials...imagine that hmmmmm I can not wait till the talking bird from Aladdin gets a chance to talk on here....No Olson reference, that might hurt the over/under

Jeffrey Ross time now, first joke to the girls sitting on stage that they were still here from last year's roast...funny, so is he...I love that Norm is sitting on the couch...reading the paper...funniest thing yet....two Olson references by Ross...way to make up for Lovitz...7 left to go...may have been way to low on the 11 guess....

Kick Ass, a Lewis Black appearance coming up! Damn it, that means I have to keep doing this....

commercial break...Just saw a preview for a new Kate Hudson/Dane Cook/Jason Biggs movie opening in September, do actors ever see a preview for their own movies and think to themselves...wow, i suck....if that movie makes over 50 million, I am moving to Siberia...

LEWIS BLACK TIME, this is awesome...not only did I actually laugh...I can turn this crap off as soon as I get to 11 Olson references....

Let us see here, Susie Essman...don't know you, don't care...mention the Olsons and get the hell off the stage...perfect time to use the bathroom....there it is...6 more Olson twins mentions to go...Essman, not funny at all...

The Bigfoot/Axe Murder is up now...Brian Posehn....HAHAHA the first laugh I have had when this clown talked about Lisa Lampanelli, I would repeat what he said..but I won't..I have an inch of class...Keeps the trend going...5 more times for a "popsicle stick" (Olson Twins) references to go and I can go do something productive with my night....looking forward to seeing Norm in a few minutes...

Random thought....What the hell ever happened to MTV, do they still play videos? Is TRL still on? Or did they just say screw it, no more videos and we will show 24 hours non stop of NEXT and Making the Band.....

Grandmother look a like Cloris Leachamn is taking a turn now...thanks to Wikipedia, I am figuring out just who the hell this lady is.....she is was in Young Frankenstein, Beerfest, Beavis and Butthead do America, Bad Santa and more...who knew? Thanks wikipedia...hmm this chick won an Academy Award..for what? Who cares.... Norm looks confused every time they show him...wondering if he is thinking about his part in Family Guy as "Death"..the better "Death" of the two voices who have done that character....anywho...right about now, I would rather be watching the Minnesota Timberwolves in an inter-squad game....no Olson reference...I am torn as I wonder if Saget's Olson twins jokes should count....hmmm we will see....4 roasters to go

commercial break....How do you think George Lucas came up with Jawas?

time for Norm....hope this is good...he needs to use cue cards....wonder if he is sober..classic Norm humor....he is laughing at his own jokes....HAHA....I am over my laughing count...HAHA, i love Norm....here is one of his jokes..."You are like Rin-Tin-Tin.......(Saget looking confused)....you have a dog face....get it...."...HAHA, best one yet...

Jeff Garlin in the batters box now...this should be a three-pitch strike out....time to get some grapes from the fridge.....chalk up another Olson joke....lets see...hmmm...4 more...maybe I will be on with 11....Iago up next..(see Aladdin reference earlier if you don't get it)

Since Sarah Silverman is not there...her Olson joke will be omitted...plus I hate her...

A new roaster on the stage...what happened, they could not get Patton Oswalt? As I try to watch this I notice in the background there is a bar off to the side of the stage, with..surprise...a hot girl behind it...I wonder if it is fully stocked? Has Norm been there tonight? That would explain the note cards...As dumb as this section of this post is....it does not hold a candle to how dumb I feel right now, sitting and watching this...I have no idea why I was so excited to watch this...oh well

Is Micheal Phelps swimming tonight?

Thanks to Wikipedia...they are updating this Roast as it happens...it is insane how fast they get information up on that site...

I am going to pre-empt Gilbert Gottfried's appearance by wondering allowed who would win in a cage fight...Iago or Abu? Thinking about this should help distract from the ringing in my ears due to having to hear Gottfried talk... I am having sudden urges to buy Aflac insurance right now.....as I try not to listen to the duck talk, I found out this roast was supposed to be about Willie Nelson, however, it was postponed and not taped....that show might be worse than this one...kudos Comedy Central...here come the Olson joke....HAHA that was a good one, watch the show to get it...3 to go....I have decided that Silvermann's reference will count...which by my Brown College math makes it 2 more to go....

Saget's turn.....nice touch with the "Full House" theme before he begins....doing the ripping on all the people that tried to make fun of him earlier....no Olson's yet....but an Aladdin joke...the word "repugnant" surfaced, interesting....DAMN IT, no Olsons....I loose to myself, now I got to go and figure out why I watched all of this....it was fun...sort of...final tally...9

Mr. Phelps

I find myself needing to race home from work each night to make sure I do not miss "must see t.v." It is not a comedy show I want to see, nor a drama or even a reality show but instead, it is watching Mr. Phelps swim. I would love to say how I enjoy watching him swim against his competition, however, HE HAS NONE! There is no one even close to him in his talent and ability. I mean, honest to God, the guy has to consume 12,000 calories a day in order to do what he is doing. Have you seen him? He has a body fat count of 4 % with that diet, that just speaks to the physical ability and talent this kid has. Is it just me or does he look bored as hell when he is done with a race? At what point during his aquatic race does he begin to think about if he should have the Bear Claw or Powdered Sugar doughnut for a snack to make up for the this exact mental thought he is having? You know what would be fun to see, clone Micheal Phelps and have him race against himself.

Side thought: Not that I am into watching young girls on television but seriously, HOW YOUNG ARE THESE GIRLS IN GYMNASTICS? Are countries exploiting young children in these events....and hold on.....BREAKING NEWS....they have Instant Replay in Gymnastics. What the hell is this? Major League Baseball can not use replays, however, these judges are able to replay and pick apart each routine to see if they complete each turn and twist to see if they are able to be scored in one category or another...OK this is scary I have put this much time into Gymnastics, I am done with this now....

Back to Phelps, this guy is swimming something like 17 events in 11 days. I would pay to see some other athletes of today to compete in that many games in that few of days. Can you imagine seeing Joe Mauer catch 17 games in 11 days? Yeah, different sport and different situations but whatever in real life that would equate to, there is no way the Baby Jesus would ever be able to do that. How about seeing Shaq play in that many games in 11 days? HAHAHA, sorry that was funny to me. Anyways, Phelps just swam and won a qualifying race 40 mns after winning a Gold Medal and could not have looked more bored or gave a crap less as he was competing. Go Mr. Phelps, if only for a few weeks, you have gotten me interested in watching your sport and watch you compete in it. 6 down, 2 to go, anyone want to bet against him?
